SUBJECT: Minutes of the 2/28/08 Dept. Jr. Oratorical Committee Meeting
The 2nd meeting of the Dept. of NH Jr. Oratorical committee was held at Post 21 in Concord, NH at 1905 hours on 2/28/08.
A roll call of Committee members was taken and a quorum was present.
First order of business was to approve the budget for 2008-09. Motion was made by Roland Patnode & seconded by Danny Webster to accept the budget proposed. Motion passed unanimously.
Second order of business was a report from the Districts in reference to contestant Status.
Dist #1 Looking at providing 2 contestants for the Dept finals.
Dist #2 No commitment to date.
Dist #3 Looking at providing 2 contestants for the Dept finals.
Dist #4 Looking at providing 2 contestants for the Dept finals
Dist #5 Working on one contestant for the Dept. finals.
Dist #6 Looking at providing 2 contestants for the Dept finals

Third order of business was to discuss the $400.00 (plus) that was donated to the Jr. Oratorical Committee in the name of the late DARYL SYKES of Post #41, New London.
CHAIRMAN FERNALD PASSED THE GAVEL TO PDC ROLAND PATNODE. NATE FERNALD MADE A MOTION AND IT WAS SECONDED BY JOE CAOUETTE TO DONATE THE FUNDS THAT CAME IN TO DEPARTMENT HQ IN THE NAME OF DARYL SYKES TO BE TURNED OVER TO, NEW LONDON POST 40 TO ASSIST THEM IN PROVIDING A PLAQUE TO BE PRESENTED TO THE DISTRICT (6) LEVEL WINNER OF THE JR. ORATORICAL CONTEST IN THE NAME OF DARYL SYKES. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
Guest, PDC George West spoke in reference to the annual Plaque and thanked the Committee for their support on behalf of Daryl’s family and the members of the Post 40 family.
Final order of business was logistics. Discussed JUDGES, TABULATORS, Roland Patnode will brief the Judges. Nate Fernald will brief the contestants.
PDC Roland Patanode will coordinate with Ray LaPointe to make sure that all the necessary paperwork is available for the Judges to do their job.
With no further business to come before the meeting and, after appropriate ceremonies. The meeting adjourned at 1950 hours.
