Care for the Care Giver
Many times the care giver just needs a break from the exhausting responsibilities of
providing constant care for a chronically ill family member. Other times the caregiver needs
the freedom to attend important family events such as reunion, weddings, graduations,
or vacations.
By providing a rest for the primary care giver, we may delay or prevent institutionalization of
that veteran.
Respite Care duration is normally 2 weeks, twice a year. Extended Respite Care is available on
a limited basis.
Any chronically ill veteran who is not in need of acute medical care and is being cared for at
home by a family member is eligible. Veterans with certain behavior problems cannot be
