Sharon Cook

 

 

 

 

                     

                                                       Sharon’s eligibility in the American Legion Auxiliary is through her husband Charlie, a retired 25 year Veteran of the U.S.

                                                       Army and active member of  Troy Post  #56 as well as her father, Norman Marion, a WWII Veteran and member of Marlborough

                                                       Post # 24.

 

                                                      Sharon’s pin is the eagle with her theme for the year being “ Soaring For Our Veterans”.  Her project for the year is the Liberty

                                                      House, a transitional house for homeless Veterans, located in Manchester.  “ I hope when you are considering donations this coming

                                                       year, you will certainly include the Liberty House.”

 

                                                      Sharon is proud to have her son Phillip serving this year as Sons of The American Legion Detachment Commander. 

 

                                                      She has been an active member since the day she joined the Auxiliary.  At the Unit level, she has served many offices, to include

                                                       numerous terms as Secretary, Vice President and five terms as President. 

 

                                                     She has held many chairmanships at the Unit level to include, Americanism, Children & Youth, Community Service, Constitution

                                                     and By-Laws, Foreign Relations, Fund Raising, Girls State, Junior Activities, Leadership, Legislative, Past President’s Parley,

                                                     Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation and Public Relations, holding many of these chairmanships numerous times.

 

                                                    On the District level, Sharon served as District #1 Director, 1999-2000 and again in 2001-2002.  She has also served in numerous

                                                     other District offices.  She is currently serving her fourth year as Treasurer as well as District Children and Youth chairman.

 

                                                    On the Department level, Sharon has served as Poppy Chairman, taking a National Award for the best Poppy Program in the

                                                    Eastern Division. She has also served as Legislative Chairman, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from The National Legislative

                                                    Commission of The American Legion. Sharon has also served as the  Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Chairman, GIRLS STATE

                                                    Chairman, Community Service Chairman, Education Chairman,  member of the Audit Committee as well as Membership Chairman.

 

                                                    Sharon has served the Department as Chaplain, Historian, 2nd Vice President and as the First Vice President.

 

                                                    Sharon has served as a counselor at Granite Girls State for 8 years.

 

                                                    Sharon is a partner of Cheshire County Salon # 276 of the 8/40.
