Harriet has further served as Unit Membership Chairman, and Children & Youth Chairman. For several years, Harriet was the Unit’s representative on the City of Nashua Joint Veterans Parade Committee. In this role, she was instrumental in aiding the parade planning, coordination of post-parade meals, and ensuring Unit #3’s participation in the two parades the City of Nashua conducts each year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
District Two elected Harriet as Alternate District Director from 1992-1993. She served as District Two Director from 1993-1994 and Children and Youth Chairman 2003-2004. Department Chairmanships include Legislature, Music, Constitution & By-laws, Community Service, Education, Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation and Unit Development and Revitalization Co-Chairman. She has served as Department Chaplain, Department Historian, Department Second Vice President and Department First Vice President. Harriet gained important experience in interpersonal relationships, the comforting of Veterans and their families, and a deep appreciation for the History of the American Legion while serving alongside her husband who for many years was the Post’s Service Officer.
Harriet is also a member of the Nashua Emblem Club and enjoys spending time with her nine children and twenty-two grandchildren.
Her loyalty to the goals of the American Legion Auxiliary is unquestioned. Harriet’s unique combination of attributes makes her an eminently qualified, highly deserving individual to serve as our Department President.
