COLOR GUARD AND DRILL TEAM COMPETITION

AT DEPARTMENT CONVENTION

 

 

The Auxiliary follows the same rules as The American Legion as detailed in the Legion’s Uniform and Musical Groups    Committee Competition Packet for that year.

 

 Trophies and Awards

 

1. Sanborn Color Guard Trophy

Donated by William Sanborn, member of Deerfield American Legion #103, in memory of his mother.

 

The Sanborn Trophy is awarded to the Unit Color Guard who has the highest score in the Auxiliary Color Guard Competition.

 

The winner of this trophy will serve as the Department Color Guard for the year.

 

2. Leeds Color Guard Trophy

 Donated by Sandy Leeds Jenkins, Past Department President, member of Hooksett Unit 37.

 

The Leeds Trophy is awarded to the Unit Color Guard who has the second highest score in the Auxiliary Color Guard Competition.

 

3. Color Guard Community Service Award

 Donated by the Hartman Family, members of Portsmouth #6 American Legion Family.

 

A trophy to be awarded to the Color Guard Unit who has submitted the best narrative report on their community service activities.  Reports must be typewritten in narrative form, not to exceed 1,000 words.  Title should read “Color Guard Community Service Activities”.  Entries must include the name of the Color Guard Unit and the name and

address of the Color Guard member who submitted the report.  The report shall cover from Department Convention through May 31st of the following year.  All entries must be submitted to the Department Community Service Chairman for judging, NO LATER THAN JUNE 5TH.

 

The Color Guard Community Service Trophy will be awarded each year at the Department Color Guard Competition.  The trophy shall be retired when the engraving inserts have been completed and permanently given to the Unit who has won it the most. 

 

In case of a tie, the tied Unit who won it last will receive the trophy.  Upon retirement, the Hartman family will provide another trophy.

 

4. Wyman Junior Color Guard Award

 Donated by Robert Wyman, member of Keene #4 American Legion.

 

The Wyman Junior Color Guard Award is awarded to the Junior Color Guard with the highest score.  This award is not a traveling award but will be presented to the Department winner to keep permanently.

 

5. Adrienne Alix District Drill Team Trophy

Donated by Greenville Unit 13, in memory of  Adrienne Alix, member of Greenville Unit, Past Department  Secretary/Treasurer, Past Department President.

 

Awarded to the Auxiliary District Drill Team with the highest score.  The District Drill Team must have members from two or more units of their district participating to be considered a District Drill Team.

 

6. Ann Robert Drill Team Trophy

 Donated by Tilton Unit 49, American Legion Auxiliary.

 

Awarded to the best all round drill team with the highest score, whether a Unit or District drill team.
